About the event:
Melbourne Coastrek is a life-changing 60km or 30km team walking challenge that’s all about fun, fitness and fundraising! Teams have up to 10 hours to complete their walking adventure, having raised vital funds for Beyond Blue’s 24/7 Support Service.
The walk takes Coastrekkers along the Mornington Peninsula’s glorious coastal trails, journeying from Cape Schanck to Port Nepean National Park.
To date, Coastrek has inspired more than 40,000 people to get moving in nature and has raised over $30 million for charity.
We are looking for 15 volunteers to help out at this incredible event, with multiple shifts available including all day, morning and afternoon shifts.
On the day, volunteers can choose from several tasks, including:
- encouraging and supporting the event participants, especially in moments of doubt or fatigue
- coordinating rest stations for participants along the route
- celebrating the event participants’ achievement at the finish line
- set up and pack down of equipment and supplies
- helping with participant movement, like guiding them along the correct route.
Volunteers will receive:
- a Coastrek fluoro vest to wear during their shift
- free individual entry to any Coastrek event in the 12 months following their shift.
To make sure you don’t miss out on joining us at Melbourne Coastrek, head to the Coastrek website to lock in your volunteer shift as soon as possible.
Once registered, you’ll receive confirmation of your shift time, as well as all the information you’ll need in the lead up to the event.
If your work offers volunteer leave days, then why not ask if you can use your day to help support Beyond Blue? If you have any friends or family that would also be interested in helping with you, please share this information with them.
Even better, if you would like to organise a larger group to all help together through your work, sporting or community club, we would love to hear from you.
An important note on safety:
Ensuring the safety of all Beyond Blue staff and volunteers at in-person events is our top priority.
Coastrek organiser Wild Women On Top have a COVID-Safe plan in place for Melbourne Coastrek, and have committed to comply with all COVID-19 regulations.
As part of the Coastrek registration process you will be asked to agree to Wild Women On Top’s guidelines for interacting with children and a volunteer risk waiver acknowledging you are not covered by their insurance provisions in the event of injury or illness as a result of volunteering at Melbourne Coastrek.
Please know that there is no pressure to register for or attend a volunteering opportunity if you are not entirely comfortable. If circumstances change and you choose not to attend Melbourne Coastrek, you will not be precluded from opportunities in future.
