Based in Fortitude Valley, Footprints Centre Based Activities Program (CBA) is a place where people come to make friends, eat a delicious meal and have fun. Each week is different with lots of activities, games, theme weeks, and outings. Clients include older people, people with a disability and people who identify as having a mental health issue. Their personal backgrounds vary greatly but everyone comes together for a warm, inclusive, happy and friendly day from beginning to end.
There are several roles volunteers can perform in the CBA team – you may be interested in just one, or you could do a combination of a few.
• Transport – you could be an offsider (or a driver) on our mini-bus & SUVs, cheerfully and safely bringing clients to our centre in the morning and home again in the afternoon. • Kitchen – you can help our 5-Star Food Safe accredited cooks make delicious meals the clients love. (currently no positions) • Activities – you can chat with clients and support their participation in games and activities such as Wii Bowling, word games, art, moving to music, bingo, quizzes, singing, fashion parades and much more (you may have your own ideas!). • Social outings – you could help clients have a fun and interesting day out to locations within an hour’s drive of the CBD (parklands, art galleries, beaches, botanic gardens, etc.)
While CBA is a lot of fun, it also provides therapeutic benefits for clients including improved physical, mental and cognitive well-being.
Role descriptions are available for interested applicants - we are currently seeking those who can assist on Monday or Thursday for transporting clients to and from activities and outings. Hours required for availability 8:30-2:30pm. It is a requirement for volunteers with client contact be fully vaccinated, records must be provided.
