Foodbank believes the Food Hub model of emergency food distribution provides an essential relief to food insecurity for people experiencing financial hardship.

Food Hub Customer Assistant volunteers play a vital role in assisting Food Hub customers with their shopping and processing customers' vouchers and shopping at the checkout in a grocery-store style food-relief shop.

In some roles Volunteers must be willing to use computers and EFTPOS facilities (No cash transactions) or willing to learn (will receive training and support in the use of the Point of Sales system). Volunteers will need to be able to lift up to 10 kilos such as a bag of potatoes. Happy to unpack orders and stock shelves as well as providing exceptional customer service to people in need and a calm supportive manner. Willing to undergo on the job Training and other training such as Food Safety Training and attend Manual Handling Training Updates.

This role will suit people who understand the importance of client confidentiality and community services professional boundaries.

Volunteers are required to be non-judgmental, able to cope in a busy environment and can demonstrate empathy with people of all backgrounds and circumstances.
