About the RSPCA
RSPCA Victoria is a non-government, community-based, not-for-profit organisation whose vision is 'ending cruelty to all animals'. We are Victoria's best-known and most respected animal welfare organisation.
Our organisation's purpose is to work with the community to achieve outstanding animal welfare through education, advocacy, and animal care and protection. RSPCA Victoria's values - clarity and accountability, respect and consideration, and expertise and collaboration - set clear expectations for all our staff and volunteers.
About the role
We are currently recruiting for Animal Care Volunteers to join our team at the RSPCA Victoria Animal Care shelter Wangaratta, located on Connell Street, Wangaratta. Successful animal care candidates will provide day to day care for animals on site providing enrichment and support.
Successful volunteer applicants will be required to be available to work a rostered shift for a minimum 4 hours fortnightly. The minimum age to volunteer is 15 years.
Volunteering in the shelter allows you to work hands on with animals and is incredibly rewarding and inspiring. Prior experience is not essential, but a passion for animal welfare, the desire to work with others and a sense of maturity is vital. Some tasks include walking dogs, cleaning pens and enclosures and giving shelter animals some TLC.
These roles are a unique opportunity to make a difference, but they can be physically demanding, can require work outdoors in all weather and can sometimes involve smelly and dirty work!
You might feel emotional about the animals you’re working with and may find this difficult, but ultimately the reward is that you’re making a huge, positive difference to their lives – and yours!
