Legacy is a registered charity established in 1923 and founded on a promise made from one digger to another – to “look after the missus and the kids.” Legacy supports the families of deceased and incapacitated military veterans. Legatees are assigned beneficiaries (usually at least 5) who they:
- contact at least 4 times a year via phone and at least twice a year in person. This is to check on their health and well being, wish them a Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas and to ensure there is nothing they are in need of.
- advise of relevant support services provided by government, private or commercial organisations
- encourage to participate in Legacy social functions and activities
