Uniting Gippsland offers an Emergency Relief program for those in hardship. The program provides an opportunity for vulnerable members of the community to access a range of supports, including donated items, vouchers, material goods and referrals to services. The purpose of this volunteer position is to provide support to the staff and community members accessing Emergency Relief by conducting face to face interviews with consumers who are presenting for assistance and help facilitate referrals to other programs and agencies.
Emergency Relief interview volunteers are expected at all times to be non-judgmental in their approach and the ability to respond with empathy to consumers in crisis. Interviews will me completed face to face and over the phone. Uniting is a child safe organisation and is committed in everyday practice to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children, at all times. As a ‘child safe’ organisation, employment with Uniting is subject to a satisfactory national (and international where relevant) police check and relevant Working with Children Check in your State prior to commencement of any paid or unpaid work and/or participation in any service or undertaking.
