In 2017, figures like this prompted us to take some necessary steps to combat the growing rate of youth unemployment in Australia. Parents are already spending over $69,000 to educate their child in a public school (asg.com.au, 2021) and only to see them being unemployed is unnecessary stress the parents do not want. We estimate every 2 out of 10 youth in Australia will remain unemployed post-COVID-19 if we do not implement a plan to reduce youth unemployment.
We are a fully volunteer-run organisation with a passion to support young people with several programs. We are have been actively seeking grants to run several interesting programs such as free tutoring support for over 500 students from year 3 onwards, reach over 1000 students in STEM-based learning, and coach young people to secure decent jobs faster. We operate from NSW, however, our volunteers come from all over Australia. We are keen to expand to other states where the need is the most and with the right level of support.
We have an ongoing Mentor Match program in partnership with Westpac Bank. We have supported over 120 displaced workers with career guidance over the last eighteen months. And we want to do more.
