Family Support Volunteer

Red Cross Family Support is looking for warm, caring volunteers who have a few days a week free( not weekends) to support socially isolated parents including multiple birth families and those experiencing Post Natal Depression or Anxiety. We require a commitment to visit a family ( usually the mum) once a week for 4 hrs for 12 weeks and then ongoing with other families.

The ideal volunteer loves babies and small children. They are able to assist mum with caring for her baby or babies including supporting her feeding method of choice and be non judgmental in outlook. Must have an empathetic outlook and is able to provide emotional support to a vulnerable mum. Does include assistance with light house duties e.g. folding washing or meal preparation. Does NOT include house cleaning, transporting family or babysitting in absence of parent.

As a family support volunteer, you will help people get their family’s health and well being on track. Red Cross will ensure you have the training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network.
