Freedom Wheels Bike Assembly

Freedom Wheels (FW) is a unique program enabling children with disabilities to experience the thrill of riding a bike. Volunteers work together to assemble bikes to client specifications established in client assessment clinics. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a volunteer to join our Assembly team! Assembly Volunteer:

At our workshop in Northmead, our FW assembly volunteers build the customised bikes. The bikes are a standard bike, and volunteers add on the components prescribed by the Occupational Therapist. Usually 2-4 volunteers are rostered at one time. This opportunity suits an individual who has a passion for bikes and who will gain satisfaction from seeing a person get to ride a bike (often for the first time ever!)

There are also other opportunities to think outside the square when a special solution is required and to assist with the occasional pick up or delivery of a bike. Volunteers are required to undertake Induction training and will be provided with "on the job" training and guidance provided by experienced and competent staff and volunteers.

Bicycle and mechanical enthusiasts are encouraged to join our Freedom Wheels team to assist with the assembly of bikes designed for our clients’ specific needs to enable them to live a more active life!

Benefits:

*Being apart of a like minded team

*Make meaningful connections with others

*Thorough induction and on site training

*Ongoing guidance from experienced staff and volunteers

*The opportunity to see a person ride a bike for the first time
