As a Volunteer Mentor in the Inclusive Volunteering Pathways to Employment Program, you will be matched with one of our participants who is living with disability or mental health conditions. You will be in a unique position to combat social isolation by engaging with a participant virtually on a weekly basis while their volunteer role is affected by COVID-19. You will have the opportunity to build a relationship with a participant and help them achieve their personal and employment goals. With training and support from the program coordinators, you will facilitate structured phone discussions that aim to help participants build their confidence and employability skills. We believe in the value of helping a vulnerable or potentially isolated person work towards their goals.
• Build a positive relationship with someone new
• Provide social connection to a potentially vulnerable or isolated member of the community
• Empower another person by sharing your workplace knowledge and skills
• Revise and refine your own workplace skills in the process!
People with lived experience of disability or mental health conditions are encouraged to apply.
