Volunteer Chef / Cook

Logo for HYPA (SA)

HYPA is the youth division of SYC Ltd, an Australian, non-for-profit, community based organisation that has a long tradition of helping young people change their lives for the better. Since 1958 we have helped thousands of people find a safe place to sleep, deal with personal issues, finish school, and reconnect with their families.

The Foundry is our purpose-built hub for young people to find and seize the opportunities they need to develop skills, get social connections and build lasting independence. It is a space for growth across all life domains and provides a central location for young people to connect with our services and programs.

We are currently looking for expressions of interest for this position at The Foundry, located in Adelaide CBD. This skills development program is focused on teaching cooking skills to young people in an enjoyable and supportive environment, as well as teaching nutritional and budget friendly meals. Volunteers in this program provide a valuable service to our community of young people.

Volunteers are required to attend Volunteer Training, Safe Environments of Children and Young People Training, must be willing to complete a DHS - Working with Children Check and a Police Clearance, and complete all other relevant training for the role. The cost of these will be covered by SYC.

A high level of patience and communication and a commitment to providing a supportive environment for learning and well-being is essential.
