ROLE AND RESPOSIBILITIES
As the welcoming face and one of the main points of contact for 3rd Space visitors, you will: · Provide exceptional customer service to all 3rd Space visitors and stakeholders, building strong relationships with all internal stakeholders · Perform hospitality front of house and kitchen hand duties · Work closely with the rest of the team to identify opportunities to reduce the risk that visitors may become agitated, in accordance with internal procedures
In practice, daily duties include: • Greeting customers as they enter the establishment. • Taking food and beverage orders • Preparing food, such as muffins, sandwiches and wraps • Ensuring timely delivery and presentation of food and beverages to guests • Using cash register and count change to process customers' payments • Assisting with complying to public health directives • Cleaning or sanitizing work areas, utensils, or equipment; cleaning service or seating areas.
COMMITMENT Shifts at the cafe' occur over a 7 day roster. There are two shifts available each day with four volunteer positions in each shift. Morning: 8:00am-11:30pm Afternoon: 11:30pm-2:00pm.
We are currently recruiting to expand our coverage over Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The ability and willingness to cover whole days would be greatly appreciated. Ideally, volunteers will opt to do the same shift weekly. Additional shifts will be offered depending on current needs.
THE RIGHT CANDIDATE Successful candidates will: · Have an open mind and ability to provide service without judgement · Have an understanding of and be willing to work within trauma-informed frameworks and person-centred approaches · Demonstrate well developed inter-personal skills and the ability to get along with many different types of people · Have a general understanding of reception activities (answering the phone, receiving and sending emails, printing forms, performing internet searches) · Are willing to go the extra mile and show initiative · Can multitask and keep calm in a fast-paced environment · Are able to perform calmly in stressful situations including critical incidents relating to alcohol and other drugs, mental health issues and medical issues · Practice self-care and have the capacity to ask for support themselves as needed · Are able to work within the parameters of the volunteer role, policies and procedures and respect professional boundaries
