Mentors needed in schools to support at risk students in south east suburbs of Melbourne in 2022

EdConnect Australia

At EdConnect Australia we are training and mobilising an army of volunteers, to provide life changing mentoring and learning support in schools for students who are at risk of not fulfilling their educational potential.

Every year, our volunteers provide life-changing – potentially life-saving – support for more than 12,000 young people. We’re talking about academic, emotional and everyday support that provides both a safety net and a springboard for students who might otherwise struggle.

Ed Connect mentors provide support to students who are at risk of not achieving their educational potential. Mentors utilise their listening skills and life experience to build a positive trusting relationship and provide one on one social and emotional support.

We are looking for volunteers with a wide range of skills and interests to offer support in areas such a listening to students read, assisting in English, Science, Maths or Art classes for example. Supporting students to transition as they start Year 7. Perhaps you enjoy sewing, woodwork, or cooking. Perhaps you would gain satisfaction from supporting students who have English as another language. Or support Year 11 and 12 VCAL students.

No previous volunteer experience necessary, however, we are seeking people who are compassionate, patient and be willing to genuinely help students. Volunteers must be able to commit an 1 hour per week for a 6-12 month period during school terms, therefore these roles are not suitable for people who are looking for a short term fill-in volunteer role.

Many of our current volunteers find this program personally rewarding as they help students thrive. The impact volunteers can make on a young person’s life goes well beyond their school years. This is an opportunity to not only help, shape, and support young people and schools, it may even enrich a volunteers life as well.

We’ve recruited and trained thousands of volunteers who have helped many more thousands of young people throughout Australia.

If you are looking to make a difference in a young person’s life, apply now.
