The main objectives of the Guest Service Volunteer role are to: • Improve the quality of life and enjoyment for Fernlea guests • Provide support for Fernlea day respite staff

Skills & Experience
i. Experience working with people with a life-limiting illness, highly desirable ii. An understanding of loss, grief and dying process, and an ability to manage the emotional impact of working with the dying and bereaved

Personal Attributes i. An interest in working with people who have a life-limiting illness, and their carers ii. Positive attitude iii. Strong customer/client focus iv. Honest and trustworthy v. Neat appearance vi. The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

Guest Services i. Provide support, conversation and assistance to meet the needs of the guests and provide a positive experience for them while at Fernlea ii. Liaise regularly with the Nurse to provide feedback on guests’ progress or any concerns 

Customer Service i. Communicate with guests and their carers in a polite, helpful and courteous manner ii. Maintain a high level of personal presentation
