The Volunteer Victim Assistant Worker reports to the Volunteer Development Officer, and works collaboratively with staff and volunteers located at both Alice Springs and Darwin Offices. Volunteer duties are varied and matched according to a volunteer’s skills and knowledge. Duties will be performed during business hours and may include: o Attend VoCNT Volunteer induction training, skills development workshops and other volunteer activities to maintain knowledge and skills. o Act as reception and first point of enquiry for VoCNT, at all times providing a warm and welcoming response o Direct calls appropriately, exercising responsibility for referrals to the relevant program area o Provide support using a strengths-based approach that demonstrates active listening, empathy, reassurance and offers appropriate support options o Assist with scheduling of Home Security Assessment and other relevant appointments o Accompany staff on Home Security Assessments (HSA’s) to learn and practice Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Principles. o Team up with co-volunteers to conduct Home Security Assessments (HSA’s) and complete associated reporting and data entry, following all documented procedures. o Represent VoCNT at shows, expos and community activities to promote awareness of the organisation’s services o Maintain a clean and tidy reception area and surrounding spaces o Enter data into the CDS Database to enter client information, statistics and attend to case closures o Record incoming call statistics for reporting purposes o Periodically re-stock brochures in public spaces as per spreadsheet e.g., libraries, police stations, MP offices.
