This role will require the volunteer to: Support the client(s)/group members to actively participate in the social inclusion group. Support the client(s)/members with tasks such as reading the menu. Greeting clients/group members at the venue. Orientating clients/group members to the venue and amenities. Provide support to clients/group members to order meal/drinks. Support the clients/group members to access transport such as taxi. Communicate effectively with clients to understand and respond to their needs. Provide support to Vision Australia staff who coordinate the group. The skills required by the volunteer:
- Attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, especially good listening
- Interpersonal skills
- Visual translation skills
- Ability to work with people who are blind or have low vision
- Someone who is fun and social and enjoys dining out in a group setting.
