Sovereign Hill is currently focussed on delivery of its bold Master Plan, including the upcoming launch of the Australian Centre for Rare Arts and Forgotten Trades and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections together with a strong ongoing program of major capital and strategic projects. With carriage for the delivery of this visionary Master Plan and a responsibility to provide strategic direction, governance and diverse views to the organisation, the Board also represents Sovereign Hill to its many and varied stakeholders. More information on the role of the Board and the Sovereign Hill Master Plan can be found on the website.
The Board is elected by the members, and a Board recruitment process selects candidates for nomination to the members at the Annual General Meeting in October and to fill vacant positions as they arise prior to that date. Board positions are voluntary and require a commitment to attend bi-monthly Board meetings, some events at the museum and be involved in a sub-committee.
The Board of Directors is seeking expressions of interest from individuals with the knowledge, passion, entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to serve as an independent voluntary Director on its skills-based Board. Expressions of interest are specifically sought from suitably qualified and experienced professionals who have strong community networks in Ballarat and ideally demonstrate knowledge, skills and experience in at least one of the following: strategic human resources, museum industry, tourism industry, information technology strategy, the education industry or the agriculture industry.
Candidates with strong business acumen and board leadership experience, with potential to move into a future board leadership position, who have demonstrated community profile in Ballarat would be considered well alongside candidates with the specific skills focus areas listed.
We also expect Board Directors to display, at a minimum, the following attributes: • Collaboration • Courage • Resilience
This is a unique opportunity for accomplished professionals to help drive the strategic direction of a nationally acclaimed museum, education and tourism destination.
