Dog Rescue and Rehome Coordinator (voluntary)

WORKING ALONGSIDE THE FOSTER CARER TEAM YOU WILL:
- Liaise with surrender enquiries from the public and assess suitability for that dog to come into foster care
- Liaise with local pounds and other rescues to assess suitability for any dogs they need assistance with
- Monitor the adoptions email daily for new adoption applications from the public
- Respond to all adoption enquiries promptly using a set of template emails for ease and quickness
- Arrange volunteers to home check potential adopters
- Ensure all vet work is carried out and provide information to Foster Carers about vet work required
- Ensure all adoption paperwork and payments are received prior to any animal going on adoption trial
- Follow up all trial adoptions by phone to ensure the adopter is happy and the dog or puppy has settled
- Update internal systems with all adoption information
- Liaise with the Foster Carer Coordinators and Foster Carers on a regular basis
THE PERSON:
You will have excellent administration skills, be highly organised and be diligent at meeting deadlines. You will be liaising by phone, text, email and social media to a wide group of people including the general public, volunteers and other coordinators therefore an excellent telephone manner and a high level of customer service skills are paramount. You will possess a calm disposition as occasionally you may need to deal with an emergency or a distressed foster carer. You will of course have a support network to lean upon, including the rest of the volunteer coordinator team, the board and the wider volunteer group.
IN ADDITION YOU WILL:
- Be computer literate and able to use multiple platforms including databases, social media and email
- Be available at short notice to urgent requests from Foster Carers (such as animal emergencies)
- Have a calm and level headed disposition to make tough decisions
- Possess excellent customer service skills
- Have a strong sense of empathy towards difficult situations without being judgemental
