A love of gardening and of being outside is a prerequisite for this volunteer role. Volunteers also need to be quite fit and strong, as the work can be quite physical. Tasks /duties include, but are not limited to - hand mowing, pruning, weeding, sweeping paths and verandahs, de-cobwebbing, whipper snipping, hedging, spraying, leaf blowing, edging, planting and ride-on mowing. Early mornings starts from 7am or 8 am until 11am are preferable, as this is deemed the best time for gardening. However, the hours are flexible. The requirement hours for this role is 4 to 5 hours a week. Support is provided by the club manager, maintenance manager and retired volunteer gardeners. The advantages of this role is good camaraderie and friendships are built in coming together in sharing a common interest in gardening. Light refreshments are offered at the end of the completion of work hours.
