Art Workshops Coordinator
The Campbelltown ArtHouse is a community-managed art gallery and workshop space, within the Campbelltown council area of Adelaide.
In six years it has created an inclusive and welcoming environment for people of all ages, amateur and professional artists and beginners thinking about tapping into their creative gifts. An annual program of group exhibitions and workshops provide opportunities for creative growth and accomplishment.
The Art Workshops Coordinator also has responsibility for the development and implementation of an annual program of art workshops. This includes workshops designed and delivered by tutors working in partnership with the ArtHouse.
Key duties include:
- Working with a small team of volunteer Workshop Assistants
- Identifying and pursuing workshop and event opportunities
- Preparing workshop proposals and reports, including budgets, for the ArtHouse Committee’s consideration and approval
- Curation and scheduling of an annual Workshop Calendar
- Fostering mutually rewarding relationships with tutors and liaising closely with them, from initial proposals through contract negotiation and management to promotion and delivery of a workshop/class
- Project management of all workshops including the research, design and execution of each workshop, budget development, risk management with particular attention to sharing exhibition space, and ensuring sufficient resources are available.
The Art Workshops Coordinator role is self-motivated and managed, with much work undertaken at home as well as at the Gallery. Flexibility to attend and manage workshops often on weekends or evenings and other events throughout the year is also required.
Key skills and experience required are:
- Passion for community and visual arts
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency in event management
- Strong administrative skills and proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel and Google Workspace
- Demonstrated high level of interpersonal and networking
- Ability to work flexible hours based on venue requirements
- A collaborative style in working in a hands-on capacity within a small volunteer managed organisation
- Excellent interpersonal skills
