This volunteer opportunity will help to accompany patients as they approach the end of life.

Through the efforts of volunteers, the End of Life Compassionate Companion Service (EoLCCS) provides a reassuring presence from a compassionate companion for patients who may otherwise die alone.

No one is born alone, and in the best of circumstances, no one needs to die alone. Yet from time to time patients find themselves approaching the end of life with neither family nor friends present with them as they near their end of life. A calm, reassuring presence makes a significant difference for patients and gives the opportunity to honor life with dignity and respect for those who may otherwise die alone.

In this role, we recommend applicants have a positive approach to life that encourages others, emotional maturity to be self-reflective and a depth of life experience to draw resilience from.

We are currently taking expressions of interest and we will advise you when our next intake of applicants will begin.  In the meantime, we will remain in contact via email with updates and our Compassionate Companion Newsletters.
