Activity Assistant in a Woodwork Shed

The Woodwork Shed as part of the Community Activity Centre is a space for our clients who may have low or no vision to learn new skills and complete woodworking projects with the guidance and support of volunteers.

We are looking for volunteers who have availability on one of more of the following: Monday PM, Tuesday AM, Wednesday AM or PM or Thursday AM or PM. Shifts are usually 2-3 hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with any woodwork activity requirements.
  2. Provide instruction and support to clients to facilitate skill development and participation in their chosen woodwork project.
  3. Adapt techniques, equipment and activities (as instructed/ authorised) to meet individual client needs.
  4. Clean and maintain equipment in a safe working order and report any worn or unsafe equipment to the Coordinator or Activity Officers.
  5. Assist with storage of equipment and housekeeping duties.
  6. Adhere to all relevant policies, standards, regulations and legislation.
  7. Report to the Coordinator or Activity Officers any difficulties or concerns which may impact on the safe and effective running of the Centre.
  8. Become familiar with emergency procedures within the centre to ensure the safety of clients, volunteers and staff.
