Do you want to help in Advocating for, Promoting & Rehoming of Retired Race Horses, while working with a dedicated team of volunteers across Queensland? We want to hear from you! We are currently seeking skilled individuals who have experience in helping animals in need, to carry out various voluntary roles including the role of a Grounds and Maintenance Attendant. The Standardbred Association Qld (SAQ) is a not-for-profit association, operating throughout Queensland and staffed exclusively by volunteers.

The Role We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Grounds & Maintenance Attendant to join our team. Reporting to the Management Committee, you will assist with repairs and maintenance to facilities and equipment, grounds maintenance, some renovation work and irrigation and waste management. You will also be required to organise working bees where necessary.

Qualifications/Experience/Knowledge

  • Available to work a flexible roster across Monday to Sunday as required
  • Fit and energetic
  • A great attitude and willingness to learn
  • Experience in sporting grounds maintenance including renovations an advantage
  • Previous trade employment or handyman skills, plus gardening and grounds keeping knowledge
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Knowledge of correct manual handling techniques and WHS awareness.
  • A current valid driver’s licence is essential.
  • Undertake other tasks at the request of the Management Committee.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team, taking on new tasks as required
  • Ability to perform set tasks efficiently and to a high standard
  • Have passion, drive and commitment
  • Be flexible and confident in engaging others
  • Handy with tools and equipment. Own tools are a bonus as ours are limited,

**Relationships **

  • Reports to the Associations Management Committee • Liaises with the Club Sub Committee • Liaises with all members of SAQ.

Accountability

  • Accountable to the Associations Management Committee.
