The St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn (the Society) has been serving the local community since 1924. We are a charity based, not-for-profit organisation offering a 'hand up' to people in need, regardless of their creed, ethnic or social background, health, gender, or political opinion. Our commitment and delivery of our services to the community is through our people—members, volunteers, and employees. They work together daily and provide a hand up to people across the ACT and its surrounding areas, from Lake Cargelligo in the west, across the Snowy Mountains to Tumut, down to Eden, up to Batemans Bay and inland to Crookwell.
Our front desk volunteers assist the Business Operations team. They will provide a point of reception for our visitors. The role encompasses skills in managing front desk enquiries, incoming phone calls, word processing, data entry, photocopying, filing and other general administrative tasks. Our front desk volunteers are also responsible for providing administrative support for delivery of a wide range of corporate services that sustain the operations of the Society.
Key Responsibilities: • Undertake reception duties that support first point of contact for members, volunteers, employees, contractors, and guests to the Rheinberger Centre as well as delivery of goods • Provide general office support including mail collection and maintaining a stock of offices supplies, equipment, and stationery • Contribute to data management requirements.
Skills and Knowledge: • A high level of customer service skills • Communication skills - written and verbal with a wide range of stakeholders • Good proficiency in the use of technology and software packages along with demonstrated experience in the operational use of record keeping database packages, including efficient and accurate data entry skills.

Work Health and Safety Requirements: • Manual handling of up to fifteen (15) kilograms with lifting, bending, reaching up and down • If driving a Society vehicle, a valid drivers license must be held and a copy provided.
