The Role The Director and Treasurer plays an important role in ensuring the financial sustainability and ongoing viability of Nutcote Trust P/L. This role is voluntary but allow initially 15-25 hours commitment per month for Board meetings and other support activities and be able to commit to a minimum 12-24 months initial term. There are 7 Board meetings a year, including an AGM.
Hands-On We are small with 1 manager, 4 rotating part-time staff and many dedicated volunteers. An enthusiastic hands-on approach assisting at an operational level will be well received.
Responsibilities

Review monthly financial reports prepared by our external bookkeeper and ensure all financial records are kept in accordance with relevant legislation

Prepare and present financial reports to the Board, assessing alignment with strategic and business plans; interpret financial information and advise on such matters

In consultation with the Chair and Company Secretary, monitor compliance with applicable laws, regulations, statutory reporting, standards, contracts as mitigate risks identified through a risk management plan

Work with the manager and Board on implementing and reviewing revenue streams and options

Electronically approve bank payments (payroll, creditors)

Review the proposed annual budget and underlying assumptions prior to presentation to the Board

Assist Chair and others on Endowment fund investment options – as needed

Assist Board and manager with grant applications

Annually – insurance policy review with the broker

Oversee the preparation on the preparation of the audited annual financial statements prior their submission to the AGM

Develop relationships with key stakeholders such as; North Sydney Council and our associated charities

Attend our events, meet with our staff and volunteers
About Nutcote/ May Gibbs
Nutcote is the beautiful harbourside home of May Gibbs (1877-1969), Australia’s foremost children’s author and illustrator and best known today for her iconic story, The Complete Adventures of Snugglepot & Cuddlepie. Located in Sydney’s Neutral Bay and now a house museum surrounded by delightful gardens.
May Gibbs’ Nutcote is managed by a volunteer Board. The Board is responsible for appointing a paid Manager who is responsible for the day-to-day running of the historic House Museum and Gardens. The Board at May Gibbs’ Nutcote reports annually on its activities to North Sydney Council.
