Volunteering SA&NT manages the registration and referral of spontaneous volunteers for South Australia. When preparing for, and after a disaster is over, volunteers may be required to assist with recovery. There are a variety of things you may be asked to do as a spontaneous volunteer, although there is currently no formal call for volunteers.

In the short-term volunteers may help with clean up, fencing, transport, sorting goods, administration or tasks that are requiring specialist skills. Of course, Emergency Recovery can last months or years and volunteers may be needed in the long term to assist with a variety of tasks such as building and environment restoration activities or supporting community service organisations experiencing an increase in demand for services.

Volunteering SA&NT will work with agencies to ascertain their needs for volunteers, in the event of an emergency. When activated, you will receive information via email about current opportunities with emergency response/recovery organisations.

Please note: All agencies will do their best to ensure that volunteers will operate in a safe environment, however all volunteers need to understand that they will be operating in a declared emergency situation.
