Wildcare Helpline Operator
WA Wildlife (Supported by Volunteer Melville!)The Wildcare Helpline is a telephone referral service operated by volunteers and is based at in Bibra Lake. The Wildcare Helpline receives phone calls from community members seeking advice or assistance with native wildlife or wildlife related emergencies. We are seeking Wildcare Helpline Operators keen to play an important role by providing initial wildlife-specific advice and connecting the caller with appropriate organisations for further advice, support or assistance. Helpline volunteers need patience, a clear telephone voice and must enjoy talking to people of all backgrounds. Often callers may be distressed so a calm disposition is useful. Basic computer skills are required. Wildlife knowledge is not essential, but a desire to learn about and help native wildlife is. Training is provided and there is strong support from other volunteers and staff. All training is provided on the job. Key tasks: Commit to a regular weekly shift. Participate in on-the-job training Answer the telephone Provide general wildlife specific advice Refer the caller to relevant organisations Provide links to other useful resources Enter required data
