Social Companion Volunteer – Wembley

Can you offer friendship and companionship to an isolated senior? Do you have a passion for helping others? Are you available during the working week?
MercyCare is seeking a dedicated volunteer to become a Social Companion at our residential aged care home in Wembley.
The role would involve connecting with our residents to reduce loneliness and isolation. This could include reminiscing, sharing stories, having a chat, connecting over similar hobbies and interests, playing a boardgame, card game etc.
As a Social Companion volunteer, you will have the opportunity to:
- Make a positive difference in the lives of seniors and your community.
- Spend quality time and build meaningful relationships with residents.
- Enhance the quality of life for our residents by helping reduce loneliness and isolation.
- Become a valuable member of our team with ongoing support throughout your volunteer journey.
Are you available during the working week? The day and hours can be negotiated with the Wellbeing Coordinator once you commence. We ask for a commitment once a week, for a minimum of 2 hours.
MercyCare volunteers receive a Logo shirt, are celebrated during National Volunteer week and International Volunteer Day, share our Excellence Awards and gala night in September. All our volunteers are invited to celebrations throughout the year.
If you would like to connect with your local community, we would love to hear from you!
