Photography Assistant
Animal Welfare League QldThis volunteer role exists at our Gold Coast and Beenleigh Rehoming Centres working closely with our onsite Photographer, assisting them to capture the individual personalities of our animals in care, for both adoption photos and social media content. Some of the responsibilities of this role may involve the following duties;
• Dog handling – collecting dogs from their kennels and taking them out for their photos/videos • Handling cats – identifying cats using a microchip scanner and carrying cats to their ‘mini studio’ for photos • Preparing the set – staging a ‘mini studio’ using backdrops and props • Staging - Assisting the photographer to pose the animal using toys, treats and other incentives • Grooming – making the animals presentable for their photos/videos by clearing gunk from their eyes, brushing fur and fitting bandanas/accessories
Suitable candidates MUST be extremely confident, calm and skilled with large boisterous dogs. They will need to follow the directions and lead of staff members at all times. A critical component of this role requires volunteers to adhere to strict protocols and procedures while also focused on keeping our animal’s happy and healthy at all times. Previous experience handling dogs would be advantageous and the ability to train in AWLQ protocols and handling techniques with our Dog Team Volunteers beneficial.
We are seeking reliable volunteers who possess a great attitude, are self-motivated, confident working with and handling a variety to domestic animals, comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment and driven to provide a high work ethic, demonstrating an understanding of the aims and objectives of the AWLQ.
- Please note our AWLQ Beenleigh Animal Rehoming Centre focusses on rehoming dogs on a behaviour management program. Volunteers may have limited access to some dogs, as those on this program may be “Staff Only” access.
