The Aged Care Volunteer Visiting Scheme (ACVVS), funded by the Australian Government, connects volunteers with an older person who is feeling lonely and/or socially isolated, to build friendships and reduce feelings of loneliness.

The role: In your volunteer role you will be paired with an aging senior to provide them regular social support visits in their home (either living independently or a Residential Aged Care Facility). Activities during your visit are based on yours and your clients interests and could include conversation, playing board games, listening to music or sharing stories. Get to know someone new and make a difference in your local community!

About You:

  • Possess clear communication skills
  • Compassionate, patient and an excellent listener
  • Passionate about giving back to your community
  • Conducts yourself with open-mindedness and respect, ensuring the privacy, confidentiality, and dignity of our clients is always maintained
  • Comfortable using technology to provide feedback and connect with the Volunteer Program
  • Availability for a flexible six-month commitment

Time Commitment: 1 hour per week or fortnight, between 9:00am - 5:00pm. At genU, we’re all about flexibility. Let’s chat and find out the hours which suit you best!
