Woodwork Activity Assistant - VisAbility
Advertised by Volunteering WA
Under the direction of the Activity Officer, you'll be assisting our low and no vision clients to undertake a range of woodwork activities.
You'd be helping to provide instruction and support clients, through adapting techniques, equipment and activities to meet individual their needs. You'd also help maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, as well as fellow staff and volunteers.
Not to brag, but our clients are amazing! It’s a social centre, so clients come in for a chat and connection as much as to make incredible woodwork projects.
The shed is a fully-equipped machine shop with most of the bigger saws etc. fitted with guards. Clients create all types of projects from coffee tables and bedside tables to the smaller items such as chopping boards, jewellery boxes, clocks, etc. If you have woodworking/ carpentry/ furniture-making skills, or are generally handy, this could be the spot for you!
Woodwork sessions run at the following times, and we'd love you to be available for an ongoing roster of one or more sessions per week:
- Wednesday 9am – 12pm and/or 1pm – 3pm
- Thursday 9am – 12pm and/or 1pm – 3pm
