Read Write Now is a community-based volunteer organisation, providing free one-to-one help for adults who want to improve their reading, writing, maths, study or basic computer skills.

The RWN Coordinator coordinates the local RWN group and provides a high quality service in supporting volunteer tutors and students in delivering adult literacy; and attend to administration duties as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Effective interpersonal, communication skills with a wide range of people, particularly in building good relationships and ongoing communication with tutors and students;

• Conducting student interviews, using the recommended assessment procedures to determine the most effective teaching strategies to meet the students’ learning needs and goals;

• Interview, select, supervise and support tutors in the region;

• Match students with the most appropriate tutor, monitor suitability, progress and needs;

• Good organisational, record keeping and computer skills;

• Commitment to ongoing professional development and training;

• Ensure Read Write Now in your region operates within the Policy guidelines;

• Actively promote RWN at the local level

Generally, 5-8 hours per week is invested in carrying out duties, communicating with peer Coordinator/s and Central Office, and maintaining processes with tutors and students.

All Coordinators and tutors are asked to only meet in public places such as local libraries, TAFE venues or other community locations. Training and support is provided from Central Office.

Please submit your expression of interest, if you can offer time and energy, have excellent interpersonal skills and would like and are able to do that ‘little bit more’ to make a difference in the community. As with tutoring, this is immensely satisfying work.
