Community Service Volunteers – Bethlehem House

St Vincent de Paul Society Tasmania
Logo for St Vincent de Paul Society Tasmania

The St Vincent de Paul Society of Tasmania and its network of members and volunteers provide practical, frontline support, advocacy and friendship to the most vulnerable members of our community.

Bethlehem House is one of the Special Works Services that St Vincent de Paul Society provides to support the local community.

Bethlehem House provides assistance to men in the community who are experiencing homelessness, many of whom have experienced problems with family and relationship breakdown, mental health issues, alcohol and substance abuse, and periods of unemployment and/or imprisonment.

We need volunteers who are resilient, reliable and have strong communication skills (can simply listen as well as build rapport)

Our volunteers will assist with a range of activities including:

  • Organising creative activities; outdoor walks, woodworking workshops, gardening and maintenance
  • Providing companionship and a listening ear
  • Assisting with meetings and daily activities
  • Helping with meal preparation and service

St Vincent de Paul is more than just a workplace, our collective commitment to our values is mirrored in our culture.
