Providing a platform for multicultural young people (15 - 25 years old) to work together with our two services to make sure that young people are heard, valued, and supported.

Your key responsibilities as a Multicultural Youth Reference Group Member will include:

  • To raise the profile of multicultural young people in Canberra and to inform advocacy in relation to policy, programs, service delivery and engagement practices.
  • To consider issues of importance and make recommendations to mHub and Vinnies.
  • To ensure the views and concerns of the young people in Canberra are put forward, represented and considered
  • Attend monthly meetings
  • Work as a team with program leaders and other volunteers to plan and implement activities
  • Ensure that duty of care requirements are met for all program participants and volunteers
  • Compliance with organisational policies and procedures, training requirements, legislation, health and safety, diversity and a commitment to quality systems and continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as required

Selection Criteria:

We are looking for up to 10 people who are:

  • Aged between 15 and 25 from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds living in the ACT.
  • Passionate about advocating for yourself and other multicultural young people
  • Want to help mHub and Vinnies stay informed on issues affecting multicultural young people in Canberra.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Passionate about raising the profile of multicultural young people in the ACT and ensuring that the views and concerns of young people are heard.
  • Respectful of, and value, other’s diversity, opinions and views
  • Act with integrity.
  • Able to maintain privacy and confidentiality.
