Sunshine Baseball Club was founded in 1938 and is the oldest sporting club in Sunshine. The fact our club holds this status is testament to the many dedicated and committed people that have been involved over the years. There have been many local legends, not all necessarily baseballers, who have put their heart and soul into our club and have done so for many years.
Position description
The Canteen Assistant will be responsible for supporting the operation of the Sunshine Baseball Club’s canteen, ensuring that it runs efficiently during games, events, and other club activities. This role involves preparing and serving food and beverages, handling transactions, maintaining cleanliness, and providing friendly customer service to club members and visitors. The volunteer will play a vital role in creating a welcoming atmosphere at the club, contributing to the enjoyment of all who visit.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of food and beverages to club members, players, and visitors.
- Operate the cash register, handle cash and electronic transactions, and provide accurate change to customers.
- Maintain cleanliness in the canteen area, including washing dishes, wiping down counters, and ensuring health and safety standards are met.
- Restock canteen supplies as needed, ensuring that all items are available during operating hours.
- Assist in the setup and closing of the canteen, including preparing the space for service and cleaning up afterward.
- Provide friendly and efficient customer service, ensuring a positive experience for all.
Location: 5 Talmage St, Albion
Skills required
- Food Handling: Knowledge of safe food handling practices.
- Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with customers.
- Cash Handling: Experience with operating a cash register and handling transactions accurately.
- Organisational Skills: Ability to keep the canteen area organised and ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently.
- Teamwork: Ability to work well with other volunteers and staff members, coordinating tasks to ensure smooth operation of the canteen.
- Adaptability: Ability to remain calm and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
Time required
As much or as little as you want. Typically, 1 day a week.
Commitment required
The canteen gets very busy over summer, so 1 day a week, or every few weeks as part of a roster. Very much up to the individual.
Other requirements
- A Volunteer Working With Children Check is essential for both roles.
- Food Handling Certificate is desirable
- Responsible Service of Alcohol is desirable Sunshine Baseball Club will be happy to fund a Food Handling Certificate and Responsible Service of Alcohol if the volunteer wishes to take up.
