About Beyond the Broncos Mentoring Program

The Beyond the Broncos Mentoring Program is dedicated to improving educational outcomes for Indigenous students. Our staff provide one-on-one mentoring support, encouragement, and motivation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in high schools across the Greater Brisbane and Northern NSW region. The program supports over 3000 students in Years 7-12, aiming to maximise positive outcomes in school attendance, effort, and behavior.

This role is part of our School Community Program and does not involve contact with players, head office or sporting events.

Role: Volunteer Tutor

As a Volunteer Tutor, you will provide academic support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in participating high schools across Queensland and Northern NSW.

The role is school-based during school hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tutoring Support: Provide academic assistance to students in group or one-on-one settings.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain weekly student contact notes to the Program Coordinator to help track student progress and program outcomes.
  • Confidentiality: Ensure complete confidentiality of all discussed information, respecting the rights and privacy of students and fellow tutors.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to Work, Health, and Safety guidelines within high schools.
  • Commitment: Commit to one full school term as a valuable Brisbane Broncos volunteer team member.

Candidate Requirements

  • Ability to work well in a diverse team within a school environment.
  • Work independently while maintaining accountability.
  • Exhibit strong time management skills.
  • Ideally, have prior experience in tutoring or teaching.
  • Be available to volunteer for at least one full school term.
  • Uphold the Brisbane Broncos values of Respect, Mateship, Resilience, and Compete.
  • Have or be able to obtain a Working with Children Check/Blue Card.
  • Ability to pass a Police Check
