MATES Volunteer Befriender (Circular Head Council Area)
We are looking for a specific volunteer in the CIRCULAR HEAD COUNCIL AREA (or able to travel to CIRCULAR HEAD COUNCIL AREA regularly) that can befriend a participant.
We are seeking compassionate and committed volunteers to join the MATES Program. As a volunteer, you will be paired with a "MATE" to share weekly or fortnightly activities such as coffee chats, walks in the park, or exploring new hobbies. Your role will be crucial in providing companionship and support to those who need it most.
Key Responsibilities: Meet with your assigned "MATE" weekly or fortnightly. Engage in various activities to build a meaningful relationship. Provide companionship and emotional support. Attend scheduled meetings and additional training sessions. Maintain confidentiality and privacy at all times. Submit regular reports to your coordinator.
Qualifications: Must be over 18 years old. Ability to commit at least 1 hour per week for a minimum of 12 months. Possess or be eligible to obtain a Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) card. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Compassionate, patient, and reliable.
