Support a non-for-profit and international aid agency located in Western Sydney creating social impact and supporting migrant and refugee communities. We are looking for passionate and enthusiastic volunteers who can understand and translate Swahili during weekdays or weekends supporting our casework program and workshops.

Key duties:

  • Assist clients to complete surveys during workshops
  • Assist ASSIDA staff translating English survey questions into Swahili for workshops
  • Assist ASSIDA staff translating Swahili answers into English for workshops
  • Support ASSIDA staff during weekdays with our case work program: translating client information to the case worker as well as communicate recommendations from the case worker to the client
  • Provide general language support
  • General Assistance during workshops
  • Light clean and tidy up of the space after workshops, ensuring it is left in good condition.

Requirements:

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in organising and supervising group activities OR willingness to learn
  • Must have a Police Check and Working with Children's Check (volunteer status)

This will be shared role as we are recruiting multiple volunteers with diverse availabilities and interests. We may require more than 1 volunteer per event.

  • Reimbursement for transport (public transport or petrol) - receipts required -Attend ASSIDA cultural events and workshops for FREE
