We are seeking reliable and responsible volunteers to serve as Livestock Gate Monitors during the Kokoda Challenge. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the safety and well-being of participants by preventing the mixing of cow herds along the event route.

This role would be great for a group of young people who like being out in nature and enjoy each others company, as there may be long periods of time between competitors passing.

Key Responsibilities:

* Gate Management: Monitor designated farmers' gates along the event route to prevent the mixing of cow herds and ensure the safety of participants. * Communication: Collaborate with local farmers and event organizers to establish effective communication regarding the opening and closing of gates. * Gate Operation: Open and close gates as needed to facilitate the movement of participants while ensuring the integrity of separate cow herds. * Educate Participants: Brief participants on the importance of closing gates behind them to maintain the safety of both the event and the local farming community. * Address Issues: Report any issues or concerns related to gate operations, participant behavior, or interactions with local farmers to the event organisers.

Qualifications:

* Strong sense of responsibility and reliability. * Comfortable working outdoors and in rural environments and around cows. * Good communication skills and ability to interact with local farmers and participants.
