Volunteer Visitor needed - Be a mate to a gentleman in aged care - Alex Hills

ACVVS Wynnum (Wynnum Baptist Community Visitors Scheme)

Do you consider yourself a footy fan? Our resident particularly loves following the Brisbane Broncos, NRL and watching cricket! We would love to find him a mate to chat with about one or both of these sports!

Visits may include:

  • Having a yarn about sports.
  • Enjoying a cuppa together.

As a volunteer for the Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme, you will visit the same person living in Aged Care on a regular fortnightly basis (at a time and day convenient for you). You don’t need any experience or qualifications to become an ACVVS volunteer, just the capacity to give friendship and companionship to someone who needs it.

Regular fortnightly visits provide the resident with valuable friendship. Through this regular one-to-one visiting great friendships can be formed. These visits from a Volunteer Visitor can help to improve the quality of life of the older person and help them to feel less socially isolated.

Volunteering as a Volunteer Visitor can be a very rewarding experience. By becoming a friend to an older person, you can make a positive difference to their lives as well as your own.

Full training provided by ACVVS Wynnum.
