Day Procedure Unit Volunteer (Modbury)

Volunteer Duties in the day Procedure Unit:
- Make Tea or coffee for Post Op Patients once they are in the recliners.
- Talking with Pre-Op patients once they are in the recliners.
- Working with the ward clerks to help direct patients.
- Being aware of all OHS requirements for Volunteers and helping to maintain a safe work environment for both NHVA volunteers and local staff.
- Collate patient information packs
Volunteer Duties in ward One East:
- Make Tea or coffee for Post Op Patients and their visitors.
- Chatting with the patients who have no visitors.
- Restocking of PPE
- Working with the ward clerks to help direct families and patients.
- Being aware of all OHS requirements for Volunteers and helping to maintain a safe work environment for both NHVA volunteers and local staff.
Working Hours: 8.30am to 12.30pm and 12.30pm to 4.00pm Mon - Fri
Skills required:
- Ability to use initiative and be responsible.
- Ability to take regular instructions from supervising hospital staff.
- Ability to work independently or a team environment in the nominated work area.
- Ability to bend in a safe manner and lift lighter weighted loads (up to 6kg).
- A tolerance for activity and a busy workplace.
- Good communication (and listening skills).
- An ability to be able to relate to a wide range of people.
Expectations of the Northern Healthcare Volunteer Association (NHVA)
- Be neatly attired when reporting for their shifts ensuring NHVA Uniform shirt and closed in shoes
- Be courteous and helpful to clients, families and staff
- Be prepared to follow the directions of the Unit Manager or Shift Co-ordinator
- Abide by the guidelines of the NHVA
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Be reliable and ensure adequate notice is given if unable to attend shift.
- Attend any training which is provided and deemed necessary
