Cooper House - Men's Social Group Leader Volunteer in Aged Care, Chermside

Cooper House in Wheller Gardens Aged Care Community located at Chermside is seeking a Men's Social Group Leader volunteer to assist with the resident lifestyle program once a month. This program involves facilitating monthly discussions and activities that change according to sports seasons, such as football, cricket, and more.

The Men's Social Group Leader Volunteer can assist residents by:

  • Organising one social group activity each month.
  • Accompanying residents to and from the group activity and assisting residents as required during the activity program.
  • Generating discussion topics and activities for the group based on the current sports season.
  • Providing companionship and a sense of belonging.
  • Communicating resident feedback to staff to assist in improving both the activity and enhancing resident enjoyment.

This volunteering role is suitable for someone who is physically fit, with well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and displays a calm and empathetic manner when engaging with residents. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of our senior residents while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.

The volunteering hours available for this role are once a month and based on your availability. Volunteer times are negotiated prior to commencement.

All our volunteers follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof they have received a minimum of one primary COVID-19 vaccination before they are registered in their role.

Volunteers will also be required to have a current NDIS Workers Screening Clearance prior to commencement. This can be applied for through Wesley Mission Queensland at no cost to you.
