John Wesley Gardens - Activity Assistant Volunteers in Aged Care, Geebung

John Wesley Gardens Aged Care Community at Geebung is seeking volunteers to assist with the resident lifestyle program on Tuesdays. This program includes facilitating games, engaging and interacting with residents and supporting the Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinator with general duties.
These activities assist residents with socialising, promoting a sense of well-being and encouraging community connectedness. Most importantly they bring joy and create smiles!
Activity Assistants can help residents by:
- Preparing and facilitating games and daily activities.
- Engaging and connecting with residents.
- Accompanying residents to and from daily activities.
- Supporting the Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinator with general duties.
- Communicating resident feedback to staff to assist in improving both the activity and resident enjoyment.
This role is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm and empathetic manner when engaging with residents. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of our senior residents while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.
Volunteering hours available for this role are Tuesdays from 9am to 2:30pm, with opportunities available for mornings, afternoons, and full-day shifts. Volunteer times are negotiated prior to commencement.
This program is located within the John Wesley Gardens Aged Care Community where the residents enjoy a wonderful sense of life, fun, and friendship.

All our volunteers follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof they have received a minimum of one primary COVID-19 vaccination before they are registered in their role.
Volunteers will also be required to have a current NDIS Workers Screening Clearance prior to commencement. This can be applied for through Wesley Mission Queensland at no cost to you.
