Mater Volunteers is currently seeking dedicated volunteers to join our Occupational Therapy Gym Assistant program.

Occupational Therapy Gym Assistant volunteers provide encouragement and support to patients during their sessions in the rehabilitation gym

The available shifts are:

9am-12pm Tuesdays

9am-12pm Fridays

Volunteers must be able to commit to the same shift weekly for a minimum period of 4 months.

Duties

• Assist patients with limited mobility to attend their occupational therapy sessions

• Provide companionship to patients during their occupational therapy sessions

• Read instructions and assist patients during activities such as jigsaw puzzles, tabletop games and other cognitive tasks during occupational therapy sessions

• Assist with the organisation and movement of equipment and resources as required by staff

• Provide general administration assistance to staff including photocopying and collating of charts
