About the Role As the Student & Volunteer Coordinator, you will play a key role in engaging, supporting, and coordinating volunteers and students across our key service areas, ensuring they are well-prepared and appropriately placed to support the Foundation’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Volunteer & Student Coordination – Manage day-to-day activities, placements, and schedules for volunteers and students across administration, Pathways to Empowerment, and financial counselling programs.
  • Onboarding & Training – Develop and oversee orientation, onboarding, and ongoing training to ensure volunteers and students feel confident and well-equipped.
  • Compliance & Reporting –Monitor and manage police checks, Working with Children clearances, and other mandatory certifications, ensuring all volunteers and students meet necessary compliance requirements, providing regular reports to the Head of Business Services.
  • Administrative Support – Maintain accurate records, assist with rostering and backfilling roles, and compliance documentation ensuring and supporting the smooth operation of volunteer activities.
  • Volunteer Engagement & Retention - Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages ongoing participation, recognition, and professional development opportunities for volunteers and students.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Represent the Zahra Foundation at volunteer-related events, networking opportunities, and meetings with external organisations such as Volunteering SA.
  • Program Support - Work closely with program teams to ensure volunteers and students are effectively integrated into service delivery and are making a meaningful impact

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in volunteer or student coordination, administration, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with volunteers, students, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a trauma-informed, client-centered environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and multitask.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and database management for tracking volunteer activities and compliance.

Location & Commitment Location: South Australia Metro area Commitment: 8 hours per week, which can be spread across 1 or 2 days
