Anam Cara - Volunteers to share the joy of books and reading in Aged Care, Bray Park

Anam Cara Aged Care Community in Bray Park seeks volunteers to engage residents with reading to evoke memories, curiosity and joy. If you have a passion for sharing the love of books, we would love to hear from you! This role is available on weekday afternoons. Flexible shifts available.
These activities assist residents with socialising, promoting a sense of well-being and encouraging community connectedness. Most importantly they bring joy and create smiles!
Volunteers can help residents by:
- Supporting residents and staff at the aged care community.
- Delivering and collecting print and audio books for residents using local library resources.
- Updating borrowing cards.
- Handling general administrative tasks.
- Assisting the Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinator.
- Communicating resident feedback to staff to assist in improving both the activity and resident enjoyment.
This role is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm and empathetic manner when engaging with residents. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of our senior residents while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.
Volunteering hours available for this role are available on weekday afternoons. Flexible shifts available. Volunteer times are negotiated prior to commencement.
This program is located within the Anam Cara Aged Care Community where the residents enjoy a wonderful sense of life, fun, and friendship.

All our volunteers follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof they have received a minimum of one primary COVID-19 vaccination before they are registered in their role.
Volunteers will also be required to have a current NDIS Workers Screening Clearance prior to commencement. This can be applied for through Wesley Mission Queensland at no cost to you.
