Facilitator

The Collective on Anti-Racism (COAR) was nurtured on the stolen lands of Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country. We seek to curate anti-racist spaces in Canberra. We are a small volunteer run organisation that holds a monthly anti-racist BIPOC-centred discussion group and small monthly community events for the BIPOC community. We also use our platforms to strengthen and celebrate the BIPOC communities in Canberra.
We are seeking a Facilitator to join our Committee and lead our monthly anti-racist discussion group.
Roar with COAR is our monthly anti-racist discussion group (total of 10 per year - Feb to Nov) where we discuss the issues/topics we believe are paramount to address in anti-racist spaces. Roar with COAR follows a book club style format where attendees can engage with resources we have curated in our Anti-Racist Syllabus or can simply join the conversation on the day.
This learning environment follows COAR’s principled space guidelines. This is a supportive space that holds people accountable as we learn and grow in our understanding of the monthly topics we discuss over the year.
Our space is BIPOC-centred and we raise BIPOC voices first and foremost. We do also, however, welcome white allies to engage in their anti-racist journeys through listening to our lived experiences and the facilitated discussion.
Key ethos of Roar with COAR: Sharing and centring the lived experiences of BIPOC people for the purposes of anti-racist learning.
