Do you speak Thai and want to make a real difference in someone's life?

We are looking for a kind, patient, and compassionate volunteer to visit an older lady in Monash. The goal is to engage in friendly conversation, offer emotional support, and help combat loneliness. This lovely lady comes from a Thai background and doesn't have any friends to socialise with, and her family lives interstate. She would love a visitor who speaks Thai or comes from a Chinese background.
Volunteer Visitors are required to visit their older friend on a fortnightly basis (weekly where possible), on an ongoing basis doing an activity that you both enjoy. This particular lady loves gardening, shopping, dogs and healthy living. She would love to meet someone at a café for a cuppa and a chat.
Volunteering can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help older people to feel less isolated. Your visits will bring great joy to the client you are matched with.
All volunteers are must have a Working with Vulnerable People Card (WWVP) and can expect ongoing support and training from their ACVVS Program Coordinator.
