Oncology Volunteer - Lyell McEwin Hospital

Duties:
- Assist the families and new patients of chemotherapy/radiation through the process on their first visit to the unit
- Sitting with families and patients and explaining the patient’s flow, about the available facilities in the hospital and in the unit, where the amenities are in the unit and identifying where patients information brochures are kept.
- Greeting patients at the front door, taking the patients and their notes to the next nurse’s station.
- Assist with Tea and coffee in the chemo unit and in the waiting area, giving patients warm blankets if needed and refilling the blanket warmer.
- Taking patients to Radiology, IMVS etc., if needed.
- Checking that patients have their next appointments booked before leaving.
Other Duties:
- Back of house assistance for with miscellaneous tasks such as restocking, organising trolleys and non-patient contact duties
