Volunteer Bike Mechanics – Learn Frame Building, Weld, Repair.
At Bower Bikes, we don’t just fix bikes — we rebuild them, from the frame up. We’re looking for volunteers who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty and want to push their skills even further. Join an enthusiastic team that’s serious about bikes, sustainability, and real hands-on work.
You need to have: • Good practical bike mechanical skills — diagnosing faults, adjusting gears and brakes, and general bike servicing • Confidence using tools and working independently • A strong interest in learning frame building and welding
What you’ll be doing: • Repairing and rebuilding donated bikes for re-sale • Stripping, fixing, and prepping frames • Learning to weld, braze, and fabricate bike frames • Working with steel, tools, and machinery
What’s in it for you: • Real-world training in frame building and welding — no fluff, just skills • Grow your mechanical knowledge • Be part of an enthusiastic, skilled team • Help keep bikes out of landfill and in use • Build something that lasts
Location: Inner West Sustainability Hub, Summer Hill Volunteer days: Monday to Saturday How to apply: [email protected]
If you can already wrench a bike into shape and want to learn even more, we’ll teach you the rest. Bower Bikes – saving bikes, building the future.
